Do I still need to see an Exotic Vet?
Yes, we would definitely recommend seeing your Exotic vet to get diagnostics and work up done for your pet. At Ivetcare, we practice integrative medicine care to bring out the best treatment plan for your pet.
How do I prepare for a visit for exotics?
- Email through your pet’s history and any clinical test results prior to consultation.
- Prepare a clean & quiet area, on the floor for the consultation and treatment. (Especially for Rabbits)
- Provide a comfortable bedding for your pet with their favorite bedding/towel.
- Any children and/or other pets must not be in the immediate treatment area and should be monitored by yourself or someone else at all times if present in the same room for safety reasons.
- You will need to be able to hold your pet throughout the whole treatment (5-20minutes). If you are unable to do so, you can get someone to help you. If your pet is not held appropriately during the treatment and poses a risk to people in the vicinity, we may not be able to proceed with the treatment.
- If your avian pet (expect chickens and ducks) is not comfortable with being held in a towel, you will need to start desensitizing your pet to towel holding until it is completely comfortable being held in a towel before booking an acupuncture session. This is a compulsory requirement for your pet’s own safety.

Why are the sessions so short for Exotics?
Depending on the species and their level of receptiveness, sessions typically last between 5 to 20 minutes. A shorter session doesn’t mean less effective; it simply reflects the amount of stimulation the body can handle at the time.
It is all about knowing where to hit the right points to allow the Qi in the body to start moving and allow the body to heal.
